Abel Tasman National Park

Leaving Motueka early for Marahau is the start of the Abel Tasman Kayak trip. The first thing to do is to collect all the gear required for the trip. The kayak company provides all the necessary equipment including camping gear and more then plenty of food for these days. Initially I booked a 2 day since the 3 day one was not available, however due to cancellations I could extend the trip to a 3 day one.

When everyone has all the gear it is time to wait for the water taxi. All gear and kayaks are transported to Totaranui beach . Travelling in this direction from north to south allows to use the currents instead of paddling into the currents.
(for more details see http://www.abeltasmankayaks.co.nz and then 3 day trip)

The weather forecast for Friday is good, Saturday rain is forecast and Sunday is a fine day again. The trip by water taxi starts of good within one hour we are at a remote beach to start our voyage. Kayaking on the sea is slightly different from my previous kayaking experience in Europe.
